Words, Numbers, Music, Maps and NBA?

Are you one of those people who likes playing guessing games? Well the latest craze that started with Wordle, has really upped it’s game, pardon the pun. I have been introduced to guessing words games, math equations, countries on a world map, songs and artists and even a guess the NBA player, with a new game on a daily basis.

Wordle

When Josh Wardle, a software engineer, created the Wordle game, it was for love. He knew his partner was fascinated with playing word games so he created this simple guessing game for her. No sooner had he introduced it to family and friends and weeks later, another 300,000 + people were also playing Wordle.

The New York Times made a seven figure offer to buy the rights to this game and now you can find it here.

Each day, you have to guess a five letter word. As you type in each guess, it will highlight a green letter if you have it in the right placing, a yellow letter if it belongs to the word but in the wrong place and greyed out if it does not belong.

Wordle2

This is very similar to the original however, you must guess a six letter word in this game. Both Wordle and Wordle2 give you six chances to get it right.

Quordle

If you are still looking for a challenge then head over to Quordle. In this game, you have nine chances to guess four words at the same time. WTF? I hear you say. Give it a chance and take a look before you judge.

Nerdle

If you are more of a numbers kind of peep, head on over to Nerdle. Again, you have a maximum of six guesses to figure out the equation. The rules for this game are:

  • Each guess is a calculation.
  • You can use 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 + – * / or =.
  • It must contain one “=”.
  • It must only have a number to the right of the “=”, not another calculation.
  • Standard order of operations applies, so calculate * and / before + and –
  • If the answer we’re looking for is 10+20=30, then we will accept 20+10=30 too (unless you turn off ‘commutative answers’ in settings).

But wait, there is more.

Heardle

Now, if you are into music, and let’s face it, who isn’t, then Heardle is for you. With this game, you have to guess the song/artist after hearing a snippet of the intro. You can skip and miss a guess to hear a few more seconds till you guess the song. Again, you have six chances to get it right.

Worldle

Not to be confused with Wordle, the Worldle game is where you guess the country.

Each guess must be a valid country or territory.

After each guess, you will have the distance, the direction and the proximity from your guess and the target country. Give it a try. I introduced this one to my daughter and she loves it.

Poeltl

If you follow the NBA, then this is the game for you. Each day, you guess the mystery player.

  • You get eight guesses, try any current NBA player!
  • Green in any column indicates a match!
  • Yellow in the team column indicates the mystery player at one point played for this team, but does not currently
  • Yellow in the position column indicates a partial match to the mystery player’s position
  • Yellow in any other column indicates this attribute is within 2 (inches, years, numbers) of the mystery player
  • If you get stuck, try enabling silhouette mode!
  • A new mystery player every day!
