I’m not so good at this
It’s true that I haven’t been that great at writing so far. Well, here is my next installment.
The time has flown by and, like my last blog post, where has the time gone?

Working full time and caring for a loved one are all time-consuming. I must shake off the ‘oh woe is me’ attitude and forge a path that leads to somewhere better than this.
Last night we had our end of year work gathering. The venue was lovely and the food, drinks, table service and the company made the night. Although it was a smaller crew than last year’s event due to too many other activities colleagues had already booked, those that did attend enjoyed themselves thoroughly.
We were by the Yarra River in Melbourne’s Docklands. In the evening, the weather cleared up after a steady drop of rain throughout the day, which I was thankful for since the walk from the car to the venue could have been challenging.
I’m sharing this because it is not very often at all that I get to dress up and have a night out. I think breaking routine is why I have chosen to write a blog post today. It’s because I let myself go and have a good time which hasn’t happened in a long time.
Procrastination
Procrastination is not laziness. It is a fear of not being perfect and basing validation on external performance. It is fear of being judged by your peers and not living up to someone else’s expectations.
In truth, the only person who has a valid opinion of you, is you. Everyone around you is feeling the same pressure and needing others validation. Some choose to do something positive while others simply cannot face doing anything at all.
Periodically draining the batteries is acceptable. It’s crucial to take some time for self-care in order to relax and rejuvenate. It’s about finding strategies that work for you in your current circumstances that can make the difference.
The secret to juggling the demands of life is to maintain good health and drink plenty of water. I see way too many people drinking multiple cans of caffeinated sugary drinks throughout the day and then complain that they are always tired. This does not bode well for a healthy lifestyle. Remind yourself that it is acceptable to prioritise your own health and take a break from time to time from the things holding you back. Get some fresh air or meet up with a friend for coffee to pass some time away. It will do wonders for you.
Forgetfulness
Forgetfulness, on the other hand, may have deeper-rooted issues. If you are stressed, depressed, or suffer from lack of sleep, this can in turn cause forgetfulness. Dealing with those factors can help with memory loss.
There are many times that I will have a conversation with my daughter and ten minutes later, start the same story again, and no sooner have the words finished leaving my mouth than I realise we have already had this conversation. We laugh it off, but it has always worried me, just a little bit.
When you have a lot going on in your life, it’s easy to miss things. Reminders are a great way to prompt you of meetings, shopping lists, shows you cannot miss, needing to get fuel for your car. Everyday life things happen and if we find a way to make it easier on ourselves, we will be better for it, despite the state of the world right now. A little kindness can go a long way and that includes being kind to yourself.
Moving Forward
Disappointment comes from knowing things could be better. Gratitude flows from knowing things could be worse. We don’t control events, but we do choose our outlook. Where we focus shapes how we feel.
I hope you enjoyed this post and if you did, sharing it with just one person would be appreciated. Have a great day and may you be blessed.
